How to "erase" your scars, from a Dermatologist

How to "erase" scars
How to "erase" scars

If a product promises to “erase scars”…think again !

A scar is a permanent remodelling of your skin.

And no product can heal injured skin better than your own body's amazing repair abilities!

So, the best things you can do, are actually to support your skin's ability to heal

Here is what Dr Annie advises here patients on wounds and scars,

watch the full version HERE:

1️⃣ After your injury, keep your wounds clean with gentle care and ensure your tetanus vaccine is up-to-date

2️⃣ Consider hypochlorous acid for cleanliness and vaseline for moisturization

Hypochlorous acid is a safe antiseptic that's minimally allergenic, can treat resistant organisms, and doesn't delay wound healing (the way steroid creams do)

3️⃣ Skip polysporin and neosporin! These products contain an ingredient inside (called bacitracin) that can cause skin allergies in approximately 30% of the population. Plus, if your wound actually get infected, you will need proper treatment with an oral antibiotic anyway. See a Doctor if those concerns develop

4️⃣Remember to apply sunscreen SPF 30 regularly to protect the scar from discolouring from sunlight exposure

5️⃣Patience is key: wounds can naturally heal well, but take months!

Were you surprised by any of the above tips?
